Latin pop underdog Fulano was born Elsen Torres in Havana, Cuba. Like many Cuban families, Elsten soon relocated to New York City with his mother and brother (leaving his father behind in Cuba as a political prisoner).
Eventually, Torres moved to the Latin music mecca of Miami and formed the Latin rock band, “Fulano de Tal.” After releasing two critically acclaimed albums, the band broke up and Torres released Individual as a solo artist under the name “Fulano.” That record went on to be the only independently released album to be nominated for a Best Latin Pop Album Grammy in 2006. In addition to his solo career, Torres has been writing for other international artists and performers, including Luis Fonsi, Obie Bermúdez, Alejandra Guzmán, and Julio Iglesias, Jr.
